This year, Mėnuo Juodaragis will take place on the island of Lake Dūburys, located 20km from the town of Zarasai.

Car is the best way to get there, but other options are also available including coach, train or bike.
We advise choosing the most environmentally friendly way of travelling.

BY A SPECIAL MJR COACH

A trip by bus to Mėnuo Juodaragis festival from Vilnius and Kaunas!

A special bus will take visitors from Vilnius and Kaunas to the Mėnuo Juodaragis XXIV festival on the 22th of August.

The buses will leave the island on the 25th of August for the return to Vilnius and Kaunas.

From VILNIUS. We will start at 13:00 (meeting at 12:30) on the 22th of August from Hotel Panorama (address – Sodų str. 14, Vilnius), very close to the bus and train stations and McDonald’s).

From KAUNAS. We will start at 13:00 (meeting at 12:30) on the 22th of August from gas station CIRCLE K gas station next to MEGA shopping centre (Islandijos hwy. 32, Kaunas).

After the festival, we are meeting by the festival gates on the 25th of August at 14:30.

The price for one person for a round trip from Vilnius and Kaunas is 35 €.

You can book a place on the bus by emailing auto@mjr.lt – please write your name and surname, the city you want to go from Vilnius or Kaunas, your phone number and the required number of seats. Number of seats is limited. We’ll send further instructions to you by email.

Public transport carries till Zarasai (20 km till Dūburys island). Take into account the rest of the distance, perhaps a taxi or MJR bus could help you out. (Information will be available in early August)

You can travel to the festival by the most environmentally friendly means of transportation – the train. The train will take you from Vilnius to Turmantas – the terminal station of the North-Eastern Railway! There are 35 km from Turmantas to the Dūburys island.
You can bring a bike to cover the remaining distance, hitchhike, use taxi or a special MJR bus. (Information will be available in early August)

The real challenge is reaching the island of Lake Dūburys by bike! Persistent adventurers can join the MJR bike tour Minam Juodaragin, which offers an environmentally friendly way of travelling to the festival and enjoying the spectacular landscapes of Aukštaitija region.

Even if you have no wish to ride a bike across Lithuania for several days in a row, bring one to the festival if you have the chance! The area around Lake Dūburys is mesmerising and full of curiosities, so a bike might come in handy.

BY MOTORCYCLE OR CAR

If you are travelling from Vilnius, take the Molėtai road (A14) to Utena, then take the road A6 to Zarasai, take a left at Daugailiai (178), and ride to Antazavė across Antalieptė and Dusetos.

If you are travelling from Kaunas, take the road A6 through Jonava, Ukmergė and Utena until you reach Zarasai. Turn left at Daugailiai (178), and ride to Antazavė across Antalieptė and Dusetos.

You will arrive from Antazavė or Zarasai by the road 117. 3km from Antazavė, take a marked gravel road which will take you to the Lake Dūburys island.
