The repertoire of Daiva and Evaldas Vyčinas family duo presents songs byfolklore collectors Antanas and Jonas Juška and Liudvikas Rėza.
Accompanied by traditional kanklės they are a kind of meditation, taking listeners to the idyllic world of the 19th century. Evaldas Vyčinas is
known as the “father of folklore”, and Prof. Daiva Račiūnaitė-Vyčinienė is the most prominent researcher of Lituanian sutartinės (polyphonic
chants), singing them with the group Trys Keturiose.
Evaldas and Daiva Vyčinas were the first prominent ethnomusicologists who bravely responded to the invitation of Mėnuo Juodargis, which was rather unusual in 2000. We are truly honoured to have these venerable founders of Lituanian folk on the MJR stage again!
