In recent years, the wave of nordic/viking music has had many followers and is bringing new names. Although they are numerous, it is a rare group that surprises with real originality. One such discovery is the Icelanders VEVAKI, who draw their music from the Nordic heathen traditions. Deriving inspiration from Nature and through the scope of animism, they seek to breathe light and sound into these old stories and ancient ideas. Myth, ritual and a connection with the natural world feed Vévaki’s music, which is both contemporary in sound and wide-ranging in instrumentation.
“We are honored to be playing Menuo Juodaragis this year. The long held folk traditions from Lituania deeply inspire us, we hope to experience some of the round songs and circle dances practiced there,” – the band stated.
