For many years we have dreamt of inviting the Australian ensemble Pamesta Klumpė to MJR, probably the most vibrant and smartest collective in the Lituanian diaspora. The group’s energy and strong Australian humour can become an example and inspiration for traditional Lithuanian folklorists! It is a great pleasure that this will finally happen on the final festival edition!
The Lost Clog is a Multi Award Winning ensemble made up of the offspring of World War 2 Lituanian refugees living in Melbourne, Australia. They infuse centuries old Lituanian folk music with decades old fashion and months old facial hair. Their songs cover diverse and critical ancient themes such as the joy of beer, and the disappointment of marriage, beautiful lakes and inconvenient streams, drunken mosquitoes and inappropriate courtship, cannons that no longer fire and the euphoria of Grandma’s pancakes.
Since forming in 2010, The Lost Clog have performed across Australia, and around the world, to preserve and share Lituanian culture with a broad audience. This will be a spectacular encounter in the history of MJR, and you must all sing and dance together!
